Externato João XXIII

School website design

We first rebranded and designed Externato João XXIII’s website back in 2009. 11 years later it was time for an update because the old site wasn’t responsive – the ability to automatically resize, hide, shrink, or enlarge a website to make it look good on all devices (desktops, tablets, and phones). Our Google Analytics reports demonstrated that a significant part of visitors browsed the site via mobile devices so in 2019 it was finally decided that we should work on a new design.

“10 years after launching Externato João XXIII’s website, the challenge was to redesign and renew it. The goal was to make it more innovative, dynamic and interactive, closer to our educational community. The task was greatly achieved, thanks to the good collaboration with the Plug-it team. Today our website allows a better communication of our educational image.”

The brief called for a “continuation design”, something that wouldn’t completely break away from the old site, but instead could feel like a logic progression, a sort of upgrade of what was before. In light of this, we stuck to the same colours and took cue from the navigation and sub-navigation logic of the first site, while performing some significant overhauls in terms of content structure.

We kept things clean and bright, modernising the layout and making more use of pictures. Custom content blocks were introduced to house specific information sections that could otherwise produce unnecessarily long pages. Lastly, the whole website is now powered by a custom WordPress theme.
